I didn't get the percentiles since we were too busy asking our laundry list o' questions but I'm sure he's still topping the scale with his head measurement at least. (A girlfriend of mine has a little giant who's already 15 lbs at 2.5 months and his head was smaller than Dylan's at his 2 month appointment).
First the great news: his hips are totally fine. The one hip apparently corrected itself as predicted - they're now both rated "1a". Yippee!
He did great with his 6-in-1 shot but the pneumococcus shot wasn't so hot. (The pedi warned us that it'd burn for a couple minutes). He definitely required a little extra loving yesterday. He kept doing the waking up screaming thing as soon as his butt hit the crib mattress. And he was whimpering in his sleep. Poor baby.
His war wounds:
The doc gave us a nasal spray for him (intended for the flight but we've been trying it out on his cold). And he gave us suppositories for fever but he never developed one. The pedi was funny when he was telling me how to administer the suppository. He told me to pinch his butt cheeks together after I insert it "otherwise we'll be playing ping-pong".
The pedi also gave the thumbs up to the whole osteopath-thing so I'm gonna see if we can get him in before we fly home for Christmas (which is 1 week from today!!). This reminds me that I've been slacking on posting again and haven't posted about breastfeeding group...
We went to our breastfeeding group last Wednesday and it was awesome. It appears to be more of a mommy-meeting than a breastfeeding group per se. Several of the mommies aren't even breastfeeding anymore. It's led by a lactation consultant and a pediatrician - so it's great for asking questions. Mostly though it was just sweet having the mommy meeting with coffee/croissants. The babies ages ran the gamut from 6 weeks to 1 year so there was some good experience exchange, too. We got some help on freehand nursing (which I hadn't been able to do AT ALL and was worrying me about our flight). I also had the lactation consultant listen to this weird sucking noise Dylan sometimes makes while he's nursing and she recommended we visit an osteopath. As far as I've learned from my internet research, osteopathy appears to be like a combination of physical therapy, chiropractics & accupressure. Apparently it's very common to take newborns to an osteopath over here and it can help with latch and sucking issues. The pedi gave the thumbs up so I figure, why not?
I had to buy Dylan a new wardrobe this week since he's gotten too long for almost everything. Apparently it's just his torso that's growing though. He's now wearing onesies in 4-5 months but his pants are still 1-2 months (Funnily enough he still doesn't fit 3-6 month stuff from BabyGap, though). What can we say, he's just like his big sister...long & skinny. Found the most adorable little outfit for him...if you look closely you can see how HUGE the pants are on him. I could fit 2 of him in there! (But the buttons and snaps are already straining on the onesie).
He's still fighting his cold. It's screwing with his eating habits, I assume because he can't breathe well. He was blowing snot bubbles out of his nose while he was eating yesterday. (That and he somehow managed to shoot milk out of his nose.) We've elevated his mattress at an angle to try & help him breathe. He keeps sliding to one side while he sleeps...Poor baby. I really hope he gets over this before we fly.
Sad baby:
Hi Erica! He is so, so cute. Wishing you a very successful trip home - I'm sure it will be great!
