Cheating, but it's gotta be said...

We owe my mom an enormous “thank you” for these past couple weeks. Thanks for spending hours upon hours shopping for us and schlepping everything over here. Thanks for all the cooking and the cleaning and laundry. And thanks for taking care of whichever child I needed you to take care of at the time – for quieting my crying newborn and for occupying my insecure and jealous toddler when I had to be with his baby brother. Thanks for being here to pick up the slack while I ran to the hospital 986 times.

But mostly thanks for being such a great gramma. For reading Dylan “Goose” no matter how many times he asked for it and how sick of it you must’ve been. For sitting next to his crib for a half an hour every morning while he wanted to go “ka-BOOM!” For taking him “ousside” to “run!” or upstairs to the “side.” For chasing him and letting him chase you for hours on end. For teaching him how to count. For singing him the alphabet and “D is for Dylan” 9564 times. For teaching him that “Y” has a long tail. For teaching him how to “jump!” For all the legos and stories and puzzles.

Thanks for being an awesome gramma. We already miss you. Especially at bedtime when it’s time for some “Goose”…

Thanks for being an awesome mom. I hope I’m half as good a mother as you are. I love you, mom.

  1. ERICA! I am so jealous. Your mom traveled an ocean for you and my mom busted out of my house within 90 minutes of Jack's arrival home and as you know, Lauren was only 12 MONTHS OLD. You have no idea how lucky you are. What a sweet woman. :)
