My Chunky Monkey

We had Dylan's one-month check-up today and surprise, surprise...I still have one big-headed baby. His dome is in the 95% at 15.2" around.

My booby juice is apparently pretty high in fat content too since he's already gained an entire kilo since birth (2lbs 4oz). My chunky monkey now weighs 10 pounds! (Just to put that in perspective, he gained over a quarter of his total body weight in just 4 weeks...)

I suppose he needed to put on some weight to match the 1.8" he's grown...My baby boy's now 21.9" tall! That puts him in the 75% for both height and weight at the moment, although our pediatrician assures me that all the measurements are fairly irrelevant right now...apparently they become more significant after about 3 months.

On the less positive side, we have to go in to get his left hip checked out again in a month. Right now his hip socket appears to be set at too steep an angle, which could cause problems later when he starts to walk. So we'll go back in for his hip ultrasound (and owie, immunizations) in early December.

I'm not too concerned yet. Apparently 20% of babies have these issues at their 1-month check-up but it corrects itself 95% of the time. We'll just put him in more cloth diapers, which force his hips into a better position so they can grow without any "stress," and keep doing our baby yoga. (Thanks again for the DVD, Aaron & Laura - we LOVE it. At least for the baby yoga & baby massage, the mommy fitness looks pretty freaking intense but we'll see in a couple weeks when I get the go-ahead to exercise).

In other news, Dylan's big sister was here again this week and she had much more fun with her lil' bro this time around. She got to change diapers (although she let us take the poopy ones), feed him and push him in his stroller. The feeding wasn't quite as big a hit as the stroller - her arm started to hurt...not from holding her brother but from holding the bottle, hah!

Vanessa'd been impatiently waiting to be able to push Dylan's stroller so we had to park a block away from the restaurant where we were going to eat just so she could push him there and back.

It was "even cooler" than she'd imagined. Now she can't wait til he gets bigger so she can pop wheelies with it. :-)
