Stats

Had our 18-month checkup today. My boy is a champ. Didn't freak out with the nurses or the doctor (never a given with my shy wallflower). And he took his shot like he-man personified. I'm pretty sure we picked the baby-whisperer for our pediatrician. The doc just shows Dylan on the teddy bear what he's gonna do, then shows him what he's gonna do on his leg and voilĂ ! Dylan watched it all - made a face when the prick came but didn't cry at all. Just kept trying to apply the pull-off tabs from his band-aid on top of the band-aids on his leg. (Yes, he got two because that's where he wanted his second freebie band-aid to go. Unlike most children, my child wanted that band-aid on himself rather than on the bear.)

He did, however, throw up in the car on the way home. Joy.

We're moving up a bit on the growth charts. He weighs 22 pounds 14 oz which puts him in the 25th percentile. And he's grown to 32.5", jumping him up to the 50th percentile. His head has slowed down so he's only in the 50th there now, too. At least he's proportional, eh?

The pedi played with him for about an hour and everything looks fine (fine motor skills, eye development and whatever else it is he's checking for...). Poor doctor didn't know what language to speak to Dylan, though. He kept switching back and forth between English and German. It was kinda funny.

We're definitely still allergic to the protein in cow's milk. We started cooking with cow milk products and he did okay there, even managed a bit of normal yogurt. But when we tried putting cow milk in the bottle it was a very clear no-go. My boy now most strongly resembles a baboon. So we've been having fun playing diaperless on the balcony. I have more blackmail photos than any mother has a right to enjoy.
