Nurseries, Heartburn & The Final Countdown

Alrighty folks, I've been informed by several people that I've been severely slacking on the blogging-front. You're correct and I should be ashamed of myself. I can only say that I've been somewhat averse to taking pictures lately since the last few weeks of pregnancy apparently translate to "the ugly phase."

Yes, why don't we begin with the belly pics just to get those out of the way...(sorry Aaron, I hope you can forgive me...)

The "small" side:

The front view - note how crooked my belly is (aka how off-center my belly button has become):

And the side that made G say, "holy shit" when presented for photographing:

Can we say, "hello" to the lovely stretchmarks that decided to make their appearance in the last few weeks, which should have been known as the "home stretch" in any fair and sane world...

As far as doctors updates go, I go in on Wednesday again to get his "heart sounds" recorded. Apparently they'll also be recording any type of contraction-stuff going on...I'm not too hopeful since BeBe Schnegg STILL hasn't dropped.

I keep hoping that any one of my braxton hicks might signal downwards movement, but no luck so far. He's camping up by my ribs and encroaching upon any space my stomach might once have hoped to claim. This has led to some lovely heartburn which comes on in the middle of the night fast enough (think projectile) to wake me out of a dead sleep and have me sitting upright faster than any Ferrari ever thought of being. I'm sure this is a fun game in some culture, somewhere... Otherwise it's just your garden-variety preggo insomnia setting in.

I have also confirmed the theory that mosquitos are more attracted to pregnant women. Apparently I was unwillingly selected to participate in some study about how many mosquito bites one can accumulate on ones lower extremities if one has problems with edema. No really, I have no less than 15 mosquito bites below the knees - including two on the SOLE OF MY FOOT. Who knew that mosquitos could even bite the sole of the foot? I always assumed the skin would be too tough for the lil' buggers to make it through...alas I was apparently incorrect.

I have decided to post pics of the (still-unfinished) nursery since I'm beginning to doubt that the effing furniture store will EVER deliver the replacement parts for the closet and changing table. (G finally went off on them this past Friday in an e-mail to the management in which the word "shit or shitty" was featured no less than 5 times...he's my hero). Anyway, here're what I like to think of as our "progress" pics:

The view from the door:

The rocker-glider that was a lot of work and a lot of money to "prettify"...It's still kinda ugly but you shoulda seen it BEFORE. I'm thinking it'll become kinda like that homely dog that you just can't help but fall in love with...

The changing table awaiting the top closet-like piece (in white). The carpenter is also currently hard at work making the guard (in white but I might try to paint it blue - don't tell Gerald...)

The closet still awaiting the effing replacement doors...note how empty it remains...I've begun to hyperventilate whenever I look at the gaping emptiness too long...(and we're done shopping - at least until after Lil' Schnegg arrives, that's the scary part).

Somewhat fuzzy closeup of "da crib" and BeBe Schnegg's cuddlies...the dragon (extremely appropriate in light of "Elliot's" fame as Pete's Dragon over here), the lamb and the monkey pacifier thing-a-ma-jigger.

And daddy's contribution to bath-time fun:

Of course we couldn't pass up the matching binky and binky-holder-thingie (I think my baby-stuff vocabulary still needs some work):

And on a totally random but also exciting note, we got our new couch last Wednesday!! Yay!

  2. I didn't find anything wrong with the layout! Good, long update - yes, it was way past due! This next bit of information is supposed to make you feel better.... Jack didn't drop until ten hours into labor. He remained high under the ribs until Erin was told she had to "labor down" - so maybe baby *Eliot*? is just staying as high as he can for as long as he can!
